The same thing happened to me in Michigan. the letter's delivery address is to "State Record Retrieval Board" with the address 3105 S. Martin Luther King Blvd. #126 Lansing MIchigan 48910. the amount was for $87.00 with a deadline to mail it. After I mailed it, I tried to google the address and it is not listed! People who are slick and slimey!
Yes, same thing in Florida, they state in fine print however that they are not affiliated with government. What kills me is that they even have a "due date" after which you would be required to pay additional money. I wander how many people fall for this and why the LAW doesn't take care of these people. In my opinion, this is terrorism.
Same thing for me in Florida. I returned the letter to them telling them I knew it was a BIG SCAM. What a bunch of crooks. Hope not too many people fall for this.
It's a total scam!! I almost mailed my payment until I noticed the note that the company did not represent a branch of government or service thereof. I questioned how a non-governmental agency could get me a copy of my deed and why it cost so much.
I did some research and found out that the address listed belongs to a Mailboxes Etc. location...IT'S A PO BOX!!!
